Are the stock fender flares from a 96-97 xj wider than the 98's and newer? If so im thinking of converting and hitting them up with herculiner

been there done that twice actually but it was the wheels with no tires....it sucks

No up until the end of 96 they are all the same then they changed in 97 and were the same till 01

Thought so about the NSS. CPS is new and...****...we just replaced the downpipe yesterday, and I didn't check wire clearance. Hope that isn't the problem. Thanks, bud.

Is there any type of flares that I could get that are wider than stock ones without having to buy those expensive bushwackers?

Less than 3k in it cheap coils and wheels n tires were pretty cheap too lol

TJ Wrangler flares are somewhat common. You can use fronts and rears if you like the style, or you can use four TJ rear flares for a more factory-looking appearance.

Also, Napier makes flat flares, but I've never seen them in person.

Those are just plastic end caps for appearance. Loose bolts or wallowing plastic could cause the gaps. It isn't a sign of damage. The Jeep looks really nice, but I'd definitely check for rust being in CT.

thanks a lot for responding so fast. ok good thats what i wanted to hear. i thought thats what it was but i wanted to be sure. i think im going go look at it tomorrow ill be sure to look over it thoroughly.

Crawl underneath and look at the floor pans. I'd wager there are rust holes if the carpet is still in it. That's extremely common on Cherokees in wet and salted areas. Might be able to talk the seller down because of it.
