Pry bar between bolts on flywheel, or a pry bar on the harmonic balancer.
But serously you shouldn't have an issue putting a ratcget on the flywheel bolts and smacking it with a hammer to loosen them

Metal does not effect the life of a battery. Concrete does.
A battery will not effect spark plugs or cause them to "blow" out.

Anywhere out of the way, inside of the frame rail should be fine. Zip tie to anything you can so it doesn't dangle. A good idea is to put something like a small fuel filter on the end to keep water out. Unless the rest have rotted away you should see vent lines from the differentials and transmission up there too
