1993 I6 AUTO. yesterday I had to jump it to start. this morning all my lights work i have power to everything but it wont turn over? my terminals are clean all my grounds that i saw looked good. My radiator cap is bad and the other day I had coolant spray over my engine a couple times. maybe a sensor is wet I checked my fuses. any help?

 

Try starting while in neutral?

Yes if nothing happens at all try starting in neutral. If something happens let us know what. Any clicks, anything?

 

I already tried in netrual and i hear a click but its not at the starter is more like the distributer. I tried to start it from the starter with a screw driver but didnt turn over.

 

ya the starter is not turning over.

 

tap starter with hammer while some one has key in start position tranny in park ....

 

1. Have battery LOAD TESTED at any parts store. You can have enough juice to power lights, but not enough to start the engine under load. Load testing is the only accurate way of determining battery condition. And if you had to jump it yesterday, either your battery is toast OR your charging system isn't doing its job.

2. If battery and charging system check out, concentrate on the neutral safety switch. And yes, tap the starter as freegdr mentions....

 

that solved it I taped it as someone turned the key started right up. I had taped the starter but not while someone was trying to start it i thougt it might loosen up.

 

buy a starter it only works so many times ...

ya I will it will only start if I hit the starter.

 

68 bucks here from bennett buy whole starter get life time if you canfind it much simpler

 

Even if it's the solenoid just replace the whole things and get it over with. Starters are about $60-$70 as mentioned or $15 at the junk yard.
