Default Wont Shift!!!

Ok, so I was washing my 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ, it has the 4.0 6 cylinder automatic, I sprayed engine degreaser in the engine compartment, sprayed it down with the water hose and clean. I am driving home and it just dies while cruising down the road. I throw it into neutral, and it starts right back up. Go on home and everything is fine. I go to take my youngest to therapy and hour later and the jeep won't shift from 1st to 2nd unless its at 4000 RPM which is high, then it won't even shift into 3rd. I thought maybe i got something wet and its misfiring or something. I let it sit overnight in the garage and it is still doing it the next day. I am lost......

Throttle position sensor. It's on the back side of the throttle body.

Just that one sensor can cause all that?

It can cause a lot of problems. Mines acting up and it will not shift to 2nd at all in 1-2 drops to overdrive tc locked at stupid times. It sucks.

Remove the throttle body to a bench and work on it. Use a new Felpro gasket when you reinstall it.

Might as well do a complete cleaning of the TB while its off.

Don't have time to pull the whole thing off for right now, but I did get the new sensor on and this thing is shifting just great now. Problem solved. Thanks for your help.
