Default Window Regulator

I need to know how to replace a 1999 Cherokee power window regulator. It's the passenger front side.

Did you search Youtube? I'm sure someone here know how to replace it, but Youtube is always a good place to start for simply complicated things like this.

I have looked on Youtube. All they had was for a Grand Cherokee. My wife's friend took it out and he doesn't have time to put it back in so I'm pretty much stuck putting it in myself.

If you can't find anything about it online I'd pop the driver side door panel off and just compare the 2, shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Shouldn't be more then about 5 bolts, it's easy I've never done one on my jeep but other cars yes when I did my car I just went to the scrap yard and got the whole thing motor and everything. If your window is stuck open you can just run wires directly from the battery to get it closed or open what ever you need

Before you go that far, try inspecting the wires leading to it all the way from the master switch in the driver's door.

I had my pass. rear window stop working, was about to replace the regulator, when I discovered a broken wire going from my driver's door into the cabin, so I repaired it and what do you know, the window started working again.

Remove the door skin via the 4 or 5 screws holding it on, on behind the handle, one up on the corner and two or three big ones in the arm rest, pull the skin off firmly as its also held in by clips.

Remove the lock and handle linkage by lightly spreading the plastic clips that hold those in place. Remove electrical connections to the switches.

Look at the bottom of the window, there's a rail with two bolts, take them out and remove the glass from the door.

Look where the motor of the regulator assembly is unclog the wire, and there's like 3-5 more bolts you can just loosen up and slide the hole assembly out of the slots it sits in and maneuver it around in the door to remove it.

Reverse everything to reinstall. It's pretty easy and you'll see what I'm talking about if it's unclear during the read.

My passenger window feel off the trackdue to the plastic teeth being stripped.I removed it & put a cotter pin in place of the teeth.Been that was for 2 years.A used on was $80 & a new one $150.The cotter pin was less than 50 cents.

Google XJ window regulator repair.
