Front is a Dana 44. Rear should be the same, but could be an AMC...???

I have never seen a full size Cherokee with a 30 in the front. Maybe in the 80-83 models they did...???

Well the Dana 44 rear would be a nice upgrade but im not sure if its wider than your XJs rear. And its not a direct bolt in. Gonna have to weld shock mounts and leaf spring perches to mach your XJ. But the front axle is a passenger side differential so i dont know what you plan to do with it on the XJ. Since your XJs differential is on the drivers side. ****** the rear if you can do the fab work to make it fit.

The front axle I would leave. It looks like a dana 27... it was mounted with leaf springs and the carrier is on the passenger side.

The rear is definitely a Dana 44. If it is from a full size SJ wagoneer it is going to actually not be wide enough. The XJ axle will be 1 or 2 inches wider than a SJ wagoneer axle. That isn't to say it can't be made to work.

Thanks for the responses! I think I am going to leave them I believe my 87 has a dana 30 in the front and a 44 or 35 in the rear. was hoping that those were a upgrade but guess not, that is what I needed to know though. Also good call on the front carrier didn't think about it.

If your 87 has a D44 then you are good to go. If that JY D44 has a locker I would still pick it up as the locker will fit in yours if you have a D44.

Mine has a 35 rear axle so I'm going to look for a 44 now that will fit.
