while inspecting b sure to check for burn marks on and around the header gasket.usually a sure sign of an exhaust tick/leak.

If done properly, it works fine.

There are burn marks in front of my flywheel just below my rear main seal. I thought it was because oil leaks onto the pipe? (Need a new seal/gasket)

Hell no! But if ur gonna try and fill a big enough gap on say ur manifold u may want to not use an arc welder.u want low heat.no penetration.just bridge the gap.id prolly tig it if u have the resources to do so.

It may jus b oil leaks..but if its leaking on ur gasket and that gaskets cooking when the exhaust heats up it very well culd b leaking.have a friend throw sum pressure on the gas pedal and see if u can hear or feel air escaping the area in question possibly locating ur tick source

Champion RC12ECC or NGK ZFR5N plugs are the proper heat range plugs for your engine. Both gapped at .035".

Look for plugs with a white insulator and eroded electrode, devoid of any deposits, this would indicate that cylinder was running too lean, or is the wrong heat range. Normal plugs should have sort of a brownish tan appearance.

Plugs with the center electrode burnt away (as in destroyed) have been subjected to severe detonation or preignition.

So let me add a bit to this. I used the marvel mystery oil for 500 miles and changed my oil with royal purple and a Fram 6X filter. Still ticking. Also when I'm parked reversed in my driveway it doesn't tick. I looked for an exhaust leak but all I found was a couple dents in the pipe but no cracks found yet. Maybe the gasket? I mean my jeep is 22 years old and I've been replacing lots of original factory parts lately

I don't really know what else to tune up. My air filter is fine my plugs and cables are less than 6 months old. I even checked my plugs and cleaned them with a soft wire brush. I did use the marvel mystery oil and ran it 500 miles and changed my oil to royal purple with a good filter.

Shoulda run the MMO for 1000 miles or more. Sometimes it takes a while to clean a lifter.

I had the same noise. Mine was a cracked weld on the exhaust manifold. Changed it out yesterday. I thought "valve tick" at first too.
