Vacuum Disconnect
Ive seen a few things here about getting away from the vacuum disconnect on the front axle. But what is the best/easiest way? I have a DANA 30 for my front diff. Does anyone have a decent walkthrough on what to do to convert to a cable instead of the vacuum and will leaving the vacuum setup in the transfer case hurt it?

I have thought about posi - lok also. If you go to the search part of the forum and type in vacuum lok or Posi - Lok there is a bunch of info.

what i did was.....
took off all vac lines to the actuator of the 4wd engage
took of the cover
(diff fluid comes out)
removed the little rings holding the shaft and vacuum to the housing
took washers and placed them in so that the actuator stays permanetly to the left
put rings back in put housing back on
put a lil diff fluid in..
now...
it doesnt have to rely on vaccums to engage front axles
THIS DOES NOT HURT ANYTHING as the vac engage is a useless idea
all i do is pull it into 4lo and it is good. no vac lines. does not affect dialy driving
took half an hour

yes but it does not hurt dialy driving, affect break-ability
all you do is switch transfer case to your choice.. good to go
you will find many have thrown vac line setups to the wind and done this mod
you tube has a vid
look up something like vacuum line disconnect

Yes you can do that. and while you are at it get the 1 piece axles out of a 94 or newer and you will get the bigger steering knuckle U-joints.
