Turning off alarm/immobilizer without power locks?
Happy new year cherokeeforum!
I have a 99 sport and the power locks are failing intermittently due to a wiring issue in the passenger side door harness.
There is a buzzing/crackling sound when the door lock switches are pressed but the lock solenoids don’t fire. Before they failed entirely, sometimes the solenoids would fire and be unlocked when the passenger door is opened.
Now when the door switches are hit there’s just a crackling sound and sometimes the tail lights come on when the passenger door is closed.
I pulled the 25a fuse for the door locks from the passenger kick panel because the power locks don’t work anyway.
now my problem is that sometimes when I put the keys in the ignition the “alarm” (flashing lights but no horn) goes off and usually I would turn it off by locking/unlocking the car with the keyfob or door switch. I was forced to put the fuse back in to turn the alarm off by keyfob.
I know the solution is to get the door wiring fixed but for now is there a way to keep the keyfob or door switch lock/unlock function without firing off the door lock solenoids?
Any and all help is appreciated!
