I'm not a noob... But here's my take. I'll be as blunt as possible.
Is this guy obviously lacking common mechanical sense? Yes. Obviously. There's your shot for those of you that want to ridicule the guy.
However, he actually wants to tackle some stuff himself. This automatically ranks him ahead of the other 90% of the US population that is scared to change their own air filter.
So cut the guy some slack.
Bimmer, go get dirty and break some ****. Report back. Repeat.
Just so you know.... he has been banned from naxja for these kinds of posts. And if you have seen some of the pm's this artard has sent people when trying to help him you would understand. He gets his rocks off by pissing people off. Go read some of his other ****. He is claiming his friend spent $3000 at a dealer to have a heater core replaced in his xj. Yea.... he is full of ****
If someone asks my advice and I offer it to them and they give me a rash of ***** about it, I no longer give them advice. I won't allow myself to be pulled into all the bovine scatology....

All I have to say is wow....I have been mistaken this whole time. I thought the Cherokeeforum was a place for XJ owners to come post modifications, findings, and to seek out knowledge. Not get criticized for asking help. If its so pathetic to ask how to take the diff cover off an axle then you don't have to respond. When I was learning I asked my dad many "simple" questions. You don't automatically become a mechanic "wizard." Through asking questions and getting your hands dirty is how you get there. Along the way being mentored by others who have more experience. If your not willing to share that experience with someone who is learning then don't speak at all.
I dont mean to be harsh, this just goes against what I've seen this site stand for.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but some of these comments are pathetic.

I'm just going to put this out there....
This is an unedited, unchanged quote from a different thread.
This is the kind of delusional mind you guys are defending. This was about replacing shocks.
Yea I'm sure I make $20 an hour less than any doctor. I'm an ase certified mechanic. My wife who is just an rn makes more than me.
