tone ring will not fit.So your choice is either stick to the D35 or convert your jeep away from ABS. I can try and find that writeup on removing ABS later if you want it.

Didn't someone just post about this?? Anyway, can you not pull the backing plates off the 8.25 and then install the D35 Backing plate and drums if you bore out the center hole a little bit? Might need a custom spacer perhaps.

If memory serves their is a tone ring attached to the axles. The backing plates have a hole to mount a sensor but that tone ring must be there for it to work properly.

I know the Ford axles like the 8.8 have tone ring in the pinion. I belive that the jeeps were located in the drums them selves. My jeep has ABS and the only type of sensor thats out side I can see is the ABS lines running into the backing plates. While an 8.8 has a plug striaght into the diff for the tone ring.

Ok here's a pic of the rear axle showing the ABS sensor and tone ring.

Excuse the chicken scratch..

1- Tone Ring - This is attached to the axle shaft..Wish I had taken a pic with the axle shaft off..
2- ABS sensor
