Both mine are/were completely stock, I don't "seafoam", use special, mystical Amsoil lubricants, magic $25 spark plugs or non-spec fuel injectors either, lol.
I'd love to see 22 mpg on the highway. Neither my 99 or my 96 would cross 20mpg highway no matter how grannylike I drive. 14-15 city 19-20 hwy pretty consistently. What's your secret?

Bs I do it all of the time... On average I'm in the 20s no secret really just use mopar parts good 87 octane gas change my oil every 3k lube everything...I have a Renix and realize everything goes with mileage or time... And doesn't always need to be changed because of a code or check engine light... Parts go bad or get lazy and do not even trigger a code or light to go on... You just learn your jeep and how it acts...

Okay, fine: here are some of my secrets for getting decent mileage around town:
* No stoplight drag racing.
We could not care less about beating everyone to the next stoplight. In fact, we like hitting the green lights, and if Harvey Haula** behind us gets angry because we dick-dog along at 30 mph, too bad.
* Check tire inflation monthly.
It's a very small piece of the puzzle, but it helps. My manual specs 33 psi., and that's what I stick with.
* Keep the engine in excellent tune.
Every winter, I spend 2 weeks doing yearly maintenance, and EVERYTHING gets the once-over. Fluids, plugs, filters, the works: and I keep very good records so that nothing gets missed.
* Limit A/C use.
You would be surprised how much juice it takes to run that sucker.
* Drop in to neutral at stoplights.
If you have an automatic transmission, snicking into N when you sit at a stoplight for more than a few seconds will give your transmission a break, and increase fuel mileage.
* No extended warmups!
Fire the engine, give it a few seconds to let oil pressure stabilize, then drive away, GENTLY. After it reaches operating tempurature, you're good to go. The period where you will get the worst mileage is when the engine is in open-loop mode.
* Limit freeway speed to 60 mph. 55 is even better.
* Use decent quality fuel. (Hint: it ain't the cheapest.)
* Use overdrive lockout around town.
This one not only gives the transmission a break, but increases fuel mileage around town. Drop your automatic transmission selector into 3 to keep OD from engaging while you're putzing around town. Select OD when moving at 45 mph. or better on the highway only.
Have fun!

I noticed I get about 3mpg better when using 87 octane gas with NO ethenol, its 5¢ more a gallon but it runs better too.
Some things I used to do in my Saturn to achieve 50mpg
Note some will not apply to jeeps but it "could"
It was an 01 sl1 with a 5 speed.
Oil and trans fluid was full synthetic, used gas with no ethenol, tires where slightly overinflated, didn't haul any junk I didn't need, I had half the lower grill blocked, I never really drove it slow.. always speed limit or 5 over. Had a warm air intake and the exhaust manifold wrapped.
I shifted into 2nd @ 30 3rd @ 40 4th at 50 then to 5th at my destination speed.

Yup. I found that buzzing around town with the transmission constantly shifting into 4th and OD, then back out into 3rd and up again creates a LOT of heat and wear-n-tear, without any fuel mileage advantage.
Use OD for highway cruising only. Around town, I skip OD and leave it in gear 3 instead. It's easier on the transmission and increases fuel mileage. And don't forget to snick it in to neutral when sitting at a stoplight for more than a few seconds.

In WI, you're lucky: alcohol-laced gasoline must be labeled. In many states, no label is required. Pray that WI is able to keep alcohol out of their fuels. It kills mileage and destroys engines.
