Default Thermo fan cycle

Hi was driving home tonight, its somewhat chilly in Adelaide atm so i put the heater on, pulled up at Macca's and heard the thermo fan cycling (on , off ,on ,off)every few seconds as i sat there waiting at the drive through , is this normal ?, i cant remember hearing it before !,cheers

From Joe Peters and well stated. Sounds harsh but just makes sense:
"Let’s play a game.

You pretend that you are the only one that knows what year/engine/model, etc that you are asking about.

We will all pretend you never asked a question until you provide at least the bare minimum of information about your vehicle".

Sorry for that , thought that all xj would have the same sort of set up, o;k; anyway, its a 1996 xj cherokee sport 4.0ho engine with auto, 120k miles on the clock , standard diff,tyres,also has a smart bar/bullbar and roofracks.

Okay. Did you have the selector on heat or defrost?

Thanks for reply, i pushed both slide controls right over, so that would be max heat on defrost/windscreen i think ?.

Yes. And in defrost mode, the AC runs off and on to de-humidify the air. Select HEAT only and the fan won't cycle with the AC.

And if your blend door is working properly you'll get enough defroster output on the "heat" setting to keep the windshield clear. Thats what I find in my 93 anyway.
