swap a 4 for a 6?

ok i have a 1986 4 banger and i want some more power< to turn my 38 boggers. so i wanna swap it out for a six. can i actually do that?? im thinking of buying a rolled cherokee with the six and swaping everything. has anybody done this?? and will there be any snags that i might encounter?? please help

The 2.8 would be a underpowered turd the same as he wants to get rid of. That was the problem with the 84-86 XJs, you either got a small 4 banger or the 2.8 with no power. Chrysler did the best thing possible for the XJ in 87 by dropping in the 4.0. A decent upgrade for the 4 cyl would be to find a 3.4 V6 from a Camaro or a S10 to swap in.
