Default Stalling after starting

Hey guys my 97 XJ is have a stalling issue. It seems to start fine then sometime after inital start up it will stall, sometimes imediatley and sometimes minutes later. After it stalls I have to use the gas pedal to get it fired back up ounce running again it runs ruff for a minute then everything is fine I put a new mopar IAC about a year ago I should probably check the fuel pressure but seeing if anyone has had this exact issue.

Thanks!

Check your fuel pressure. You may be able to rent a kit from Autozone. Free. You buy it, then return it. Full refund. Find info on their website.

If I end up needing a new fuel pump which one is recommended?

Well, there's the problem. None of them are really good. The Delphi seems to get the best reviews. If you can find a Bosch, grab it, but they haven't been made for a while.

You guys have been on here long enough to remember the "I can't find a Bosch fuel pump" threads that you to come up from time to time.
I used to think "really"? But then go look for one and sure enough. None to be had.
Just posted a link on another thread for the Bosch on Amazon. Was kinda surprised that it was available.

So today I started up the jeep, it ran like crap for a few minutes kinda stumbling acting as if it was gonna stall. The idle smoothed out after a few minutes then I drove it to the gas station. After filling with gas I went to fire it up and crank crank crank but no fire and no smell of gas. I swapped the fuel pump relay for the cooling fan relay and it fired right up and has been running fine. I guess for now a faulty relay? Although the cooling fan is running fine with the "faulty" relay. I still need to check fuel pressure and will try to do so on my next day off.

An exorcism is in order..you be having the wicked Gremlins of the order of the XJ possessing your Jeep's soul....dastardly and annoying....head the words of the chant of the Cruiser "noggin pokin" and once the Gremlins have been admonished and forced away, only then can you live by the words of Blue Ridge Mark "check your grounds."

Yes I have cleaned my throttle body about 6 months ago when I changed my head gasket. I did notice the tabs on the relay that was originally in the fuel pump location are kinda black in color.

If you could refresh my memory on where the grounds are that would be great, I know of the one next to the battery, a couple down by the ignition coil and one from the head to the fire wall?

I'm the Renix guy.

I'm sure someone will chime in who can answer your question. Never a bad idea to clean connections, plugs, relay contacts though. Every one in the engine bay.
