Have you tried a fuel system cleaner?

Yes. A tune-up comes to mind as well. New fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

Well a sputter should be fuel related. So try some cleaner, it should smooth out. How many miles on the rig? May have a leaking injector, low fuel pressure, or bad Idle control vlave, vac leak, and so on.

The sputtering is how you could tell. Make sure you have the proper fuel pressure and go from there.

Does it do this when your coming to a stop? I noticed mine has started to have a slight dip below 750rpm when coming to a stop. It will catch its self and rev back up to 750rpm for idle. Leads me to believe the Idle Air Valve is sticking.

Did it atleast smooth out? No more sputtering?
