south american d44 front
well iv heard about it and been doing some reasearch and im hoping some1 could fill in my blanks and comfirm my findings.
regular d44s (waggy, j trucks, commandos) have 8.5" ring gear and 30 spline shafts, right?
tj and jk d44s hav a "real" d44 center and "real d44 or beefed internals, and d30 outers that make it undesirable to many, right?
now questions:
like the waggy d44s is it a lp or is it a hp?
i found on another site that the tube diameter on the mj d44s, chero tow pkg d44s and the waggy d44 front and rears is 2.75"... they did not say it that is inside or outer diameter but im guessing inner?
what is the axle width difference with cherokee and waggy axles? interested in if parts could be swapped from a waggy d44 to one of these south american xj d44s
also the carrier break on the waggy, mj, and chero tow pkg i found is 3.73down and 3.92up (right?). would an aftermarket carrier for 1 of these d44s work on a south american xj 44?
p.s. i also read that these are just the same as the tj and jk d44s.... that would realy suck... even if thats true i would like as many questions answered plz and thx

I'll try

Correct
tj and jk d44s hav a "real" d44 center and "real d44 or beefed internals, and d30 outers that make it undesirable to many, right?
Correct
now questions:

The Waggy 44 or the mythological front XJ 44? Who knows. Probably low pinion.

Tubes are usually measured by the OD. Tube thickness varies.

Grand Wagoneer 89 (F) Dana 44 61.5"
'84-87, 93 up Cherokee XJ 58"

Theoretically, the center section of any 44 would be the same as any other assuming HP or LP match.
p.s. i also read that these are just the same as the tj and jk d44s.... that would realy suck... even if thats true i would like as many questions answered plz and thx

The XJ 44 front does exist (per Dana,) and it's D44 in and out, knuckle-to-knuclke.
It was done as a "tax-beaing" measure - by putting 44s front & back, it could be sold as a "work truck" instead of a "passenger vehicle," which put it into a lower sales tax bracket and made it cheaper to register.
This was uncommon - but happened - in the South American market, primarily (Venezuela and Brazil, primarily.)

it cant be THAT hard to get a hold of a south american xj44, of course it will be pricey. why cant you order one from jeep, or dana for that matter. like buying a crate motor, will cost an arm and a leg though

so youre tellin me that the d44's on tj's and jk's front and rear have the same tubes and knuckles as the d30's? only the pigs are bigger for the lower gears? and i imagine the shafts are thicker?
