Default Shifter **** help-reinstall

Ok I got my automatic shifter off and cant get the dang thing back on. Any tips or if anyone can point to a thread with pics, my search only really came up with removal.

You should be able just to tap it back into place. I have done mine many times just by pushing it firmly back on. That is if you are talking about the handle itself?

Push button in and put back on. Use force if necessary.

Thanks, i'll try that tomorrow, i'm sure i'll get it on. force took it off make since force will get it on. what about the spring and the cross looking pin inside how do you keep that from breaking and not moving to one side of the rod in the shifter?

Push the button in and hold it. Place the **** on the lever. Let go of the button. Smack it with the palm of your hand.

tried everthing. sob still wont go on, just ended up breacking a few of the tabs on the inside of the handle. i'll get it on the one way or i'll have to go to junkyard to see if i'm assembling it correctly
