Default Window fell in door.

Well my power windows finally gave out on me. The driver side window fell into the door.

Didn't take it apart because it's 11:30 at night, and I don't feel like working in the dark on a Saturday night. I still have to work in the morning. However, I can still hear the motor cranking when I hit the window button. Not sure if it's the track, or the motor. Anyone have this happen? Have any tips to fix it?

happened to me except i was driving on the highway in the rain doing 80 mph on the highway :P scared the shiz outta me. the "fuzzy wire" is no longer connected to some cheap plastic piece of some sort forgot the name of it. for the hassle it's easier to buy the guts for it a LOT less work than trying to DIY kit that was a waste of money in my opinion.

http://www.steigerperformance.com/dif.cgi?SP12001 is the plastic piece.

http://www.steigerperformance.com/do...tructionsC.pdf is how to take apart the door.

So what you're saying is I should just buy a new regulator/motor assembly, than trying out this little repair kit?

in my opinion yes, the kit stripped, and broke, and not strong at all, too much fiddling with the pieces the plastics break, so yeah i'd say just go with the new regulator/assembly. quick take off put back on. Where as with the kit you'll be there for a few hours (personal experience)

RockAuto has a kit for about $70... Haven't factored in shipping yet.

i remember i got mine at advanced auto parts, got the only one they had. i believe it was like 100 something including taxes. also be careful when tightening the screws on the glass, do not over tighten them the glass will break. also be sure to have your window all the way up in the widow frame and tape it or have someone hold it there for you while you get the old assembly out, or else you will scratch/break/will not be able the get the regulator assembly out, i used duct tape, stuff's magical.

$82 from Rockauto... I think I'll try the kit. I have all the tools needed.

well in the DIY kit i got for 40$ the metal bracket stretched and messed up the fizzy wire and it would not feed through even after an hour of dremeling it and the when i finally got it through the metal bracket broke so it was a waste of time and money, i went and bought the regulator and motor kit and pushed it right in a screwed the window on and vwalla i was done.

I don't know what you were drilling it with. Must have been a large drill bit you were using. Too much torque maybe?
