either the angle of the engine is not correct or the torque converter is not fully seated on the transmission input shaft, one way to check to see if the torque converter is fully seated is to pull it off and the reinstall it listening for two clicks. use caution pulling it off as their is quite a bit of fluid in the torque converter and may come out. when i pulled my engine out i also pulled it with the transmission and t-case attached as i was changing all three. reinstalled it the same way with no problems.

I'll bet the torque converter is not seated. Did you ever remove it?

Yep we did! And know one will believe what happen torquing down the head bolts! We were on final torq... On the second to last bolt and it broke! We thought about drilling it then I was like ok we will drill it if it broke flat and it didn't so we put the too part of bolt back in the hole and twisted it to the left ( to back it out) and it came right out! Wth!? Lol so lucky!!!

Check to see that the head bolt holes aren't crudded up, stopping the hedbolt before it gets tight.
