that way you will be sure, in case it has been changed
be careful, if you are unsure, do it again
for a 4.10, (for instance) I would actually rotate the tyre 10 full turns

Or look at the metal tag that is held on with 2 diff cover bolts. But, only if a 4 cylinder. It may not state the actual gear ratio, but there are 2 numbers on there. Like 41:10 or something. Divide the big number by the little number and there's the ratio.

The tag had a fraction on it. Divide the bottom number into the top number and get the ratio.
You be amazed at what you can do out there with a Buick V6 in a '46 CJ2A with 5.38's. LOL.
