Wasn't quite sure if a 1999 jeep cherokee has a pcv valve?

Yes it does.

Any vehicle has to have some type of breather/PCV valve. Otherwise the crankcase pressure would build up and have nowhere to go until it pushed a seal out or the next weakest link such as the oil dipstick.

PCV= Positive Crankcase Ventilation. The crankcase has to vent due to blowby. If you have a non functioning valve or no way for the crankcase to vent, you are going to have problems.

The Jeep 4.0L is not equipped with a PCV valve. The engine is features a valveless CCV system ("constant crankcase ventilation") that has air always moving through it. On your valve cover, the forward elbow has a hose that draws in clean air from the filter. The rearward elbow contains a "metered orifice" (tiny hole). The hose on this elbow runs to a fitting on the intake maniold. This is a slightly older design.

There is no PCV valve. However when parts shopping many books and computers have the elbows mislabelled.

No valves to replace... but you can replace the fittings and hoses if that's what you're asking?

I can vouch oil blowing out of dipstick because of plugging all hose. Trying to eliminate thing when people don't know what there doing .

Actually front hose is there for when you accelerate .Suction from intake draws out crankcase pressure when vacuum drops during this time.
