You don't have one. It's a CCV system. It's very important that those pipes that go into the valve cover aren't melted, clogged or cracked. If they are any of those, replace them to get the sustem to work properly.

CCV system is correct. No PCV valve.
Either you have true blowby (ring issue) or you have a clogged CCV system. A clogged CCV system is EXTREMELY common on the 87-90 XJ and you should remove valve cover, thoroughly clean it, replace both of your CCV hoses AND grommets, and see if that helps before you do anything else.
