ya me too. so it looks like ill be under the xj tomoro. oh ya how much gas is ok in the tank for when i take out the pump so it doesnt come out? i hate gas in my face.

I would try to siphon some out.... I dont think the older cherokees have anything in the fuel inlet to keep you from syphoning.
Just put it in a gas can or something and put it back in when youre done.
You want it pretty close to empty.

hey man thanks a million. i would have probably whent and bought a fuel pump without knowing any better hoping it would work. now i have a better feeling about it. hopefully it still works. ill post up tomoro with some pictures of the pump out of the tank.

Try pulling the fuel line off at the fuel pump, then have someone try to start it. After fuel pump change the crap in the tank has a bad habit of plugging up the filter and starving out the engine. ( not getting enough fuel pressure )

thanks everyone for your help. just replaced the fuel pump and she runs like a charm. sorry it took so long, work got backed up and had no time to work on the jeep till tonight. big thanks to defiance665. man u know your jeeps
