Default Uneven Front Brake Pad wear question

I did search on "uneven" ... all 118 threads but did not come up with anything.

In short, my right front pads are almost gone and my left (driver) pads are maybe 30% gone - uneven front brake pad wear.

I have a rear brake cylinder brake about 2000 miles ago on the right side, the same side as the side that the front pads are almost gone. I just replaced the back brakes and cylinders. All is good there. Also, for good measure, I just replaced my shocks.

Do you think the back right brake cylinder caused the front to take up the slack? If not then what do you think the cause of the excessive right front brake pad wear is?

sounds like a stuck caliper. or maybe the caliper slide pins are stuck. try pushing the calipers back and if they go back check the slide pins chances are they are rusted and or stuck.

yeah, your caliper pins may have alot of rust on them. pull them out and wire wheel them, and then some white lithium greese. see if that helps. if not then i would focus on caliper.

I take it if the caliper pins are difficult to move in and out, though not rusted they should be replaced bc they are bent?

If they are bent should I be looking for a cause for the "bending"?

I am sure this is mis diaged alot. Crack bleaders open and see if fluid flows freely, if it doesn't on one side that it is a collapsed inner liner of a brake hose

all things here are true, start with the pins, they shouldn't need much force to slide, if they do need a good push to move, take em apart clean and grease, if that dosent work, replace them, if they check OK, push the piston back into it's bore, again too much force equals a sticky caliper or bad line, if it takes too much to push into the bore (it should slide in relatively smooth) crack the bleeder as previously stated to determine what part is the issue, hose or caliper, also check the knuckle where the pads slide and clean and grease them, look specifically for dents in the slide area, the pads can hang up in them and constantly rub the rotor causing excessive wear

when my calipers stuck, i took them all the way off, plugged up my brake line temporarily with some putty, and put the caliper in a vice and slowly squeezed em. turns out one of them was stuck but one i got it all the way it seemed to get better, bleed the brakes when your done.. never had a problem again
hope that helps

If they are bent yes replace them that will or should cure the problem.
