hey guys ive got a weird problem yesterday after fishing im headed home and she loses massive power and drops to 800-1000 rpm. then just dies. i cant get it to start. so i pack up my fishing stuff and walk home. got my dads f-350 and towed it home. now its sitting in the garage. i can start it by spraying starter fluid in it but then it dies real quick. sometimes it will start on its own but only like every 10-15 tries. i pulled off the fuel filter and blew it out, nothing same thing. im hoping i didnt pinch a fuel line when i whent wheeling yesterday but i think it would have happend much sooner. i really dont want it to be my fuel pump. what do u guys think????

I think you need to chek for power to the fuel pump at Key ON. It's onl energized for 2-3 seconds....so don't blink.
Electronics 101:
If a known voltage is applied to a load and the load fails to operate, then the load is bad.

yup.. check your fuel pump when you turn the key on. Best way would pry be to backprobe the connector with a multimeter and have someone watch it while you turn the key on.
Can you hear the pump run when you turn the key?

i dont know i clamped both ends before i took off the filter. cuz when i replaced the filter about 6 months ago it sprayed me in the face and gas in the face burns.
if you can hear the pump run, there could be a few different problems.
Fuel pressure, as mentioned
pickup line bad (inside the tank)
bad pump
turn the key on, wait a few seconds, turn it off wait a few seconds, repeat two more times (for a total of 3 times) On the third try, try starting the jeep. Tell us if it starts.

Thats a little trick people use to build up fuel pressure..
It sounds like youre not getting any fuel at all, which leaves it at a bad pump or bad pick up line.
But, just to be safe, I would still try to get a fuel pressure guage and see.

ya neither one of them rent anything. i couldnt get coil compressors for my lift from either one. i dont want to buy a gauge just to test it out and figure out my pump is bad. that would suck to spend money to figure out i have to spend money. but i guess it is a jeep(just empty every pocket)
well, push in the valve with a screwdriver while someone turns the key. See if fuel squirts out (If it just trickles, you have problems. The system should have ~40 psi)
