a lot of people will say im crazy for paying the price but im a very firm believer in royal purple oil. had great luck with the stuff. picked up 3 horsepower on the dyno and gained 4 mpg using it in my honda civic.....so when i bought my xj it got changed to royal purple the day i brought it home. my xj runs well....and i get about 22 mpg on the highway.

Incidentally, it does not matter. You simply MUST use a quality oil filter.
I run Shell Rotella T6 5w40 and a WIX 51515.

Cruiser has an old manual where SAE40 grades are specified, and while that ended in North America preferring SAE30 grades for fuel economy, export markets were specified with SAE40s until production ended.
It's a tractor engine - turns out they love tractor oil!
