Default Noob in need of help

Last year i bought a 1997 jeep cherokee with what i was told is a 3" lift. Now it is time to replace the shocks and i want to make sure that the lift height is correct.

So does anyone know how to determine the size of my lift aside from taking it to a mechanic or asking the guy i bought it off of?

the stock lift height is 17.5 inches from center of the wheel hub to bottom of fender in the front, and 17 inches in the back, measure what you have now on yours and do the math

out there now, got the front jacked up and am trying to measure now, you say to the bottom of the fender, where exactly do you mean because i got a 5 1/2" lift in the front if im doing this right, which i doubt, and am i supposed to measure while on the ground?

Yes, measure while the vehicle is sitting on the ground (level if possible).

Measure from the bottom of the fender flare at the center to the center of the wheel.

I thought the front was 17" and the rear was 17.5", although according to my wife I am usually wrong. ;-)
