Default New Vinyl flooring for the rear

My interior carpet was nasty. I saved the front for now with a good cleaning but in the rear it was real bad and some was cut out. So ordered the rear vinyl and it arrived yesterday. After unpacking and laying inside I started my garage heater and also used a hair dryer to get rid of all the creases etc. After getting fairly smooth and locating key places I started trimming and installing. I removed the rear seat, spare, and all the side trim pieces. Total time including removing everything, getting it mostly fitting the contours, and reassembling everything was 4 hours. It is 95% done, I just need to give it a couple days and maybe glue down a couple spots on the wheel wells to help it hold its position. I'm super happy with the results and glad to get rid of the carpet for good. I also refinished my headliner and sun visors in black, added a sound bar I painted black, and spare tire cover. Love the black and tan look. Also installed my new $500 ARB roof rack and got my sliders installed. Next up in a few months will be an OME lift and taller tires.

Looks great.
I know this is going to sound stupid but do you think you could have put the carpet back on top of that if you wanted too?

I think you could if you didn't have jute backing but I'm not 100% sure.

As a long time British car nut, having owned not enough, including Land Rover, Lotus, Sunbeam, Austin, Austin Healy, Morris, ... I appreciate the spelling of colour! Although not a Brit myself I can't get enough of British cars, and I have to say the Forest Service Green colour was all it took for me to buy it. As a matter of fact all 3 Jeeps I've owned have been Green, and I didn't realize that until now. On the other hand my Land Rover was not, but was Royal Blue. Getting off track, but I love the Forest Service Green because it's a unique colo(u)r to XJ's and I love mine because it's not perfect with its scratches, dents, etc, showing its off road patina. Just fixing it up enough to do another 250k and not be perfect, just functional enough to have fun on the trails with my wife and dog is all I need. It's also all set up to be towed behind my Class C RV, and we have a 5000 mile trip planned (hopefully in 2022 but definitely by 2023) from the PNW down the West Coast into Mexico and back up through AZ, NV, UT, CO, and eventually back to WA. Even though we have something newer to tow, the XJ is the one.

Me too! I've owned and fully or partly restored several MGAs MGBs, Midgets, a MGTA, TR3s, a TR4 and a Jaguar XK140. MGA has a "colour" (I'm Canadian) called Tyrolite Green which is similar to your XJ. I've always like it but it's not a colour you see very often.

btw - where did you source your vinyl flooring? I like it.

Where did you get the vinyl flooring? The carpet in my beater XJ is dis-gus-ting and since it's a beater intended for use solely in the hunting woods, I'd love to replace it with vinyl floor.
