Ok, guess I will do one too. Cherokee Project
So with the Cherokee comes a Cherokee name. Oconostota... LOL
1996 Jeep Cherokee
4.0l HO inline 6
AW4 auto trans
NP231 TC
3" ghetto lift
33" tires (modded fenderwells)
blah blah blah
So the plan:
Minimum of a 5" lift (need input on this part not sure which route to go)
AA SYE and Tom Woods DS
Keep the 33" tires
Bedliner modification to the interior maybe exterior too or flat black
Black MT Classic wheels 15x10
custom front and rear bumper with tire carrier
tossing the idea of swapping the rear out for a 8.8 ford.
there is more BS stuff too system etc.. but I think this will be the start. I am not going to order the lift for about 3 weeks, just so I can drive it around, make sure it is sound and make sure I do not have to replace anything else. This will be fun because the thing has a typical death shake that a lot of cherokees that are not properly lifted have. So I will deal with it until then.
This weekend I spent on welding up an exhaust system for it and changing all fluids and tuning it up as well as making a roof top wheel mount and painting the interior floor with a hybrid bedliner.
This is the way she ****s right now.
Here is the update from this weekend
Changed all fluids (^up).
Did a full tune up on it
Steam cleaned the engine and underside
Cleaned up the wheels and tires
Welded the exhaust with a Flowmaster and angle tip right before the axle
Welded the Cracked Exhaust Manifold
Painted the tube style bumper with Rustoleum Bed spray
Paint the rear bumper, rest of the interior floor, grill and headlight surrounds with the same bedliner paint
Hopefully will get over to brainstorm with Art, need to figure out the Death Wobble before I do the lift.
Ordered:
New Dash gauge cluster bezel
New A/C controls
New Gauge Cluster this was a base with out the gauges got the 6 gauge cluster
New tail lights
New front parking lights
I took it upon myself to put the welder to use, still getting used to it and figuring the best settings off. My welds look like ***** but are holding up so far. I did not even know Lowes carried some pretty decent angle iron, plate steel and other misc metals/shapes. I also finished painting the interior with rubber undercoat followed with three coats of bedspray... Sound deadening is real good not quite as good as carpet but better then just bedlining.
Rear seat area
Front Pass.
Rear Cargo area
I welded up a tire carrier for the roof rack. here are some good ol gimp mock ups of what I did:
How it came:
What I did on the rear most section, welded a cross support to have a sturdy center section:
Here is the plate I made to bolt the tire up to. This piece is in the center of the cross support.
I will post some pics of the finished later.

All pics are coming up fine for me. Good Start! Doing a better lift should fix the DW for you. When you change the gauge cluster to add gauges, do you have to swap speedo (odometer)? Will new gauge's plug right in or do you have to run new lines?

If you do feel you want it up a little higher and done properly, check out rubicon express lifts. The 4.5" or 5.5" would probably be ideal..From what I have seen, you will get about 5" out of the 4.5" kit. If you really want to do it right, go with a long arm kit as well.

hahaha.. Yeah I am fabbing my own long arm 4 link, I will be probably going with the RC 6.5" lift since I hav heard good things from here and NAXJA, and lets face it the price is right. as for the DW, I will be replacing all ball joints with HD, and all bushings...

So I had some left over Bedliner... I decided to redo the wood on the front part of the roof rack. I used a good piece of treated plywood and painted it with bedliner. I still had a lot of it left so I decided to do a two-tone paint job, picked a line and decided to bedline below it. Thought if it looks like crap I will paint the whole thing. I also wired up the extra two Hella 100w lights in the rear. Fixed the 02 sensor issue I had, well Here are the results of a mud adventure and the two tone:
Surprisingly I like it alot. I think it looks pretty good.
