Default need help with my waggy!

ok i have a 89 waggy with a 360 with a 727 trany and 229 t case. i am having a hard shifting problem. if you take off normally it will damn near redline b4 it up shifts.... if im not mistaken the 727s dont have a vacum modulator all the up shifiting and down shifting are controled by the down shift linkage on the carb. if this is true how do u properly adjust it? and also how do the front hubs engage and disengage? and have also my 4x4 vacum switch does not work. is there a cable or lever convestion to eleminate the vacum shifting? info opinons and ideas welcome! thanks!

back in the day i used to adjust my linkage all the way loose and tighten it after a quick testdrive and tighten it till it downshifts when you want it to.

yeah it has d44s front and rear. and the way its shifts in and out of 4x4 is a vacuum switch on in the dash that operates a vacuum motor that is mounted to the side of the trans and the vac. motor is what moves a lever that selecst or deselects the t case in and out of 4x4. the motor osnt bad and all the vac lines are intact but it doesn not work if i had to guess it has a vacuum ball or something that is no longer there and that is why it dseont work. right now im using a pry bad to pop it in and out of 4x4. and that is no good. so i was jsut wonder if any one knew of a cable or lever mod.... i know they make one for small cherokees but i cant find anything for my fullsize..... HELP! lol.

Its still considered a Waggy even thought its a GRAND WAGGY (FSJ).

Have you looked at any FSJ forums?

At the throttle cable stationary mount there is a clip on the throttle cable that needs to be "popped" On some of them its just a little "slide" (hard to explain)

With engine OFF. Pop this clip and move throttle to just shy of WOT.
Then re-fasten the clip.
This will move the detent to right before full pedal mashing, to achieve "passing-gear"

I don't have any pics of the stationary throttle cable mount to point out what needs to be done to unclip/unlock it.

HTH

the 727 is a harder shifting trans, then the th400 cause of the transfercase. th400 have to shift softer because of the qt. your right about the carb likage for the kickdown as well. theres good info on how to at ifsja.org. check that out
