Default Need help diagnosing this issue/Refer to video-Volume up

Was putting in a floor pan and cut a break line and gas tank emissions line. Replaced both and after about a month my XJ has been shifting in and out of overdrive and 4th. Also between 4th and 3rd. I replaced my TPS and that seemed to fix it for about a day and then the issues continued. I did a relearn on theTPS as well still no change. Don’t think the break line or emissions line have anything to do with it but after those fixes issues came about.

Hi Chili,
First things first, check out this thread on NAXJA about the AW4: https://naxja.org/threads/everything...e-aw4.1053970/
I'm most curious what the solenoid 3 control wire is doing. Can you get a multimeter or test light on it while reproducing the issue? That will tell you if the issue is from the control side or the transmission side.

How would I check that since this issue is only happening while driving between 45-55mph. Can I just put the gear selector into 3rd (automatic trans) and test it that way? Or would I need to jack it up and put it into drive and get it to that point?

You can check your solenoid resistances while parked, but the TCM outputs will have to be moving.
You could get it to to shift through the gears on jack stands, but its kinda sketchy and doesn't reflect real world loads.
All the signals you need to check are under the passenger dash connected to the TCU. I'd pull it down, mark the wires of interest, and have a helper poke them with a multimeter while driving to see what they're doing.

From there you can read your TPS signal and the solenoid states. Make sure the TPS output is smooth and consistent with the pedal movement, and the transmission feels it's responding to solenoid commands.
Specifically, see if the solenoid 3 wire voltage is going up/down when your torque converter is locking/unlocking.

You can also check the resistance of your solenoids from there with the TCM unplugged, assuming the harness is good.

Check out these threads for wiring details.

Thank you, I greatly appreciate since I haven’t had any luck figuring it out myself. It doesn’t help I’m 19 and live on my own so trying to do this without any help is a little tricky.
