While chasing down some vacuum leaks yesterday in my 4L 2000 XJ Sport with automatic transmission, I noticed this unconnected wire coming through the firewall, driver's side, just below the brake booster. It is about 13" long. AS you can see in the pics, the spade connectors are both corroded and still connected. I hunted around for a bare wire or connector that, at one point, was connected to this wire, but no luck.
FWIW (and this might just be coincidental) my windshield washer fluid no longer squirts, but the wipers work (applies to both front and rear), so I don't think it s a fuse since both the wipers and the washer use the same fuse. (Or am I mistaken?)
As always, many TIA for your help.

For some reason, I can add images from my device (laptop, in this case) but when I click the "Upload" icon in the top right, nothing happens. I'll try again later this afternoon.

Possibly the washer fluid pump wire - however I was going to say that it could be an accessory wire for some aftermarket accessory that a P.O. installed. IIRC when I was running wiring from the cabin to the engine compartment in my old 00 TJ it was right about that area where there was an existing factory hole in the firewall that I ran my aftermarket wiring. Also I don't think that generic style spade connectors were used for much in the factory setup, it seems most of the wires have specific plastic connectors.
Just my own guess though.

I have a 2000 XJ Limited all the bells and whistles and there is nothing there on mine, no wire no grommet nada .I have to agree with Pat w/ aftermarket, try following the wire inside the vehicle and see where it goes.
Heres a related thread in the Test section. > https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f23/no...2/#post3518256

That looks like it has been added on and also not used in a while , I still just trace it inside and see where it goes. You might want to test it with the key on and or the light switch and make sure it isn't hot. Don't want to start any fires under there.

Will do, using my no touch tester. Thanks for the heads up.
