my muffler broke off on my 2000 cherokee, is it illegal to drive around with out on in new jersey and is it bad for your car. it sounds great but i was toll it might be illegal

 

nope as long as you have on a cat you are fine and if you get pulled over (i doubt that so much i pay you money if you did)....just say it fell off and you are wateing on another one to get shipped to you and this is your only car....basicly with out a muffler on your car nothing bad happens run it with no cat(no bad effects on your engine or good ones) but it just pollutes the envoirnment and can get arested for that...so no my friend you will be fine if u need advice on a new muffler to get go check out my thread"all exhaust questions go here" lol

 

It is not legal to drive it around and from the sound of it, cops in NJ are ****** about that stuff.

 

also i dont know the laws for nj so i could be wrong google nj muffler laws

 

well apernetly i need a muffler in new jersey i looked through your thread usmclovesxj and got some ideas for new ones thank a lot.

Some states have noise laws, and some have equipment requirements. Even visual inspections are done.

 

i know if you are due for a state inspection some of them reqiure a muffler...since nj is strict on noise laws if you do plan upgradeing your muffler id go for something mild...but if you wana try your luck you could go more agressive
