Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Google sent me here.

The Door Check Pins are available from Dorman, part no. 38434.

I hope someone finds this useful in the future.

A 1/4" hitch pin is just as useful, a solid piece, won't drop out like the last one did, and is more secure than the OEM roll pin anyhow.

And, it can be found at any hardware store. Drop it in from the top, the flange and/or ring will keep it from falling through - and the spring ball on the working end will keep it from working out top (you can get one that takes a hairpin to retain it, but this may prove a bit difficult to keep the hairpin from turning and getting bent...

all 4 of mine make my doors sound like they have 100 grit sandpaper inside the door for lubricant...

I found an XJ at the JY that has the door glass, lock acctuators, window motors and good door checks that i need.. 75 a door... not bad

Default fix it

I let my son drive my 96 when I was missing my Door Check Pin. Somehow, he let the door fly open and bent the heck out of my fender. I was not pleased and still get PO'd when I see that fender. (something else to fix this summer)

For $57 per side. Or you could probably buy a whole door at a JY for that. I guess the 97-newer models have a different check strap that has a cushion at the end of travel or something to have less shock and last longer.
I priceI priced them out two years ago $105 at the dealer eachd them out two years ago $105 at the dealer each

Mine have been missing for years and years. Bought it that way. Stuck in some random bits of metal and they work fine now.

The reason I'm resurrecting this old thread, is to ask:

Why were they missing in the first place? Were they typical Chrysler junk and broke, or do people remove them for some reason.
