Missing Nut: is this the bracket that holds the bracket?
Hello CF!
I recently found what looks to be a missing nut on the underside of my 96 XJ (manual).
The picture is located directly under the driver's side motor mount. I consulted my service manual
and could not find it. Is this the bracket that holds the motor mount bracket?
I've circled the missing nut in green on the picture. I have been to the hardware store a couple of times trying
to find a replacement. Maybe I'm getting the thread size wrong? (also the threads only start halfway up the bolt) can't seem to get one all the way on.
Jeez, I hope I didn't strip it. Also, I was scared to use a washer because there seems to be some metal (or hard plastic?) sticking out at the base where the bolt
is mounted in. Has anyone come across this or have any advice?
Many thanks,

That "ring" may be a welded nutplate that the bolt threads in to, so you dont need a nut there because it's already there. Check the other side see if its the same

Thanks BlueJeep, I remember looking and the other bracket is just a different setup. But tx for teaching me about welded nut plates!!
Wow, thank you Saudade! I might buy those bolts for some future need just because they look like they are becoming rare.
But, I could not tell from the description, ie.. the original question - am I missing a nut on one end or it simply installs into the
welded nut plate?
