Lube Front End, Lube Steering, grease, zirks
Just found/hit 7 zirks on the front of my stock 90, and an eighth one on the spline on the front DL. (of those 7, two were the top ball joints)
Was glad to hear that air spitting out before things got really wet, then thought of you guys in the north, salt country. Sheez, hit those guys! The thought of salt water in there makes me cringe!
Gonna poke around the rear, besides another spline and maybe some U joints, that's about it. Right?

I hit all of mine up front at least once a month. Steering, upper ball joints, axle joints, etc. the only grease points on the rear should be rear driveshaft u-joints if they have grease points. Maybe shackles if you have aftermarket. Grease is cheap insurance, especially in the winter up here.

Dan, I do 6 miles of gravel/washboard every town tip, and it's been a year! (now I'm luben it for a freeway trip) I don't think I have "points" on the rear drive-line....thanks, Red, yea, I thought so.
Gonna check the rear, might be some zirks in the drive-line....
Been nutty hot here Btw. Doing this at night with a beer works fine!

I found 3 more. Got one of them. The deal on my gun is 9/16 (I put a veneer caliper on it) I had one more zirk on the front of the front driveline u-joint. My deal was close, but couldn't do it. Likewise another on the rear of the rear, verry narrow, no chance. I DID get the front U-joint on the rear drive shaft.
Of two I missed, the rearmost U-joint could be fairly easily done unbolting the U-joint. The front/front U-joint was supper close. A narrower, 1/2 inch deal might well reach/work.
The double cardigan on the rear of the front drive-line, above the cross member...well fingers crossed. (I do have a disco!).
So, 8 easy up front, very front, and, rear U-joints missed, front of rear drive-line hit makes 9. Double cardigan on the rear of the front drive-line...maybe another day!
A note..this is the second time my transfer case seemed to be over full. I"m thinking it might be possible for the Dexron to make it from the AW-4 into there.

The ZERKS on the rear of the front driveline are sorely neglected because they're difficult to get to.
Just remove the shaft from the transfer case end and lube them up for sure.

OK, thanks. My disco is functioning as designed. I'm not positive that front driveline even turns much. If it does, it does it lazily, and at least 1/2 the speed of the later design.

Im in Negaunee just west of Marquette on superior. I absolutely love it and couldnt see leaving the area, even with the cold and salt. Trails are wonderful and endless.
And i hear ya there flintstone, a lot of the roads are riddled with potholes and frost heaving when it gets cold on pavement, really shakes everything up front.
