Hey All

My OEM keyless system on my 99 xj sport has been acting up. I click the unlock button and the system acts like it wants to open but it doesn't. Trying the lock button does the same thing. It acts like it's low on power or something causing the actuators not to work. The lock switches also stopped working. When I unplug the Overhead console board in the light panel, the lock switches work just fine again. One other thing is that the liftgate lock only works when I use the key to lock it no matter what.

Things I've tried:
- search for a bad fuse
- replace car battery
- replace both driver and passenger master switch boards with brand new ones
- open both doors and fix broken wires in the door jamb boots

What else could possibly be the problem?

Also, since the OEM system currently is not working, would installing an aftermarket keyless kit do anything?

 

I had to change the mine to get it to work right I found it on ebay and it came with 4 remotes and the other thing you can check would be the wiring that goes to the drives door , the wiring could be shorting out .
