I have tried to search online and it seems I read conflicting information.
My 1998 Jeep Cherokee limited has a 2 button fob (lock/unlock) I took the batteries out and checked them, both totally dead.
Put in new batteries and now trying to program the fob? ... some say it can be done as a DIY job ... just by following a sequence ...

Some say it can only be done by the dealer?

It is annoying as it is the only way to set the alarm to the car by locking it via the remote.

Also if I lock manually with the key does the central locking meant to be working? As it only unlock's the door I used the key on.

If I lock it via the driver or the passenger button on the door panel it will lock/unlock all the doors at once.

Take it to a locksmith that programs chip keys they'll do it for little of nothing. I do em with a mvp programmer made by advanced diagnostics.
