Default K&N Breather

HI I have my 90 Cherokee that I am changing the valve cover gasket on and I am wondering can the breather in the front of the valve cover be replaced by a K&N Breather or does it have to be that one because well the rubber on mine is old and pretty well crumbled during removal so Do I have to nreplace it with another O.E.M one or can I use the k&N Breather. Thanks

Are you talking about the first hole on the top of the valve cover?

Shouldn't that run to the manifold for vacume (sry spelling) I think there is a spot right around the throttle body area for it to plug into. Do you have a haynes book or something similar.
