I own a 98 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 auto. I've been wheeling twice now where my jeep has shut off once I've come to a stop. It does it so peacefully you can't even tell it shuts off. Then I have to wait 15-30 minutes until it will start back up. I don't have spark at that time either but I do have fuel pressure. Does this sound like a bad crank sensor? I'm getting no CEL either which is throwing me off a bit. Yesterday after I picked up some scrap, I shut my jeep off and it wouldn't restart for 15-30 minutes once again.

Sounds like the symptoms of a crank sensor. they fail when they get hot and then will work again when it cools off. There are plenty of threads about troubleshooting. If you replace it, I definitely recommend an original MOPAR. The lifetime warranty cheap ones are cheap for a reason.

yeah i’m Going to go ahead and pick up a mopar one. Just wanted someone’s opinion on it. I’ve had them do the same thing on vw’s But they throw codes for them. Thanks!

My '00 was doing something similar and I believe the CPS was experiencing thermal failure too.
