My jeep won't start unless I give it gas and as soon as I let off the gas petal the jeep stalls out.

 

I am having the same issue. I have not resolved it yet, but the CPS or IAC are what people are suggesting.

 

TPS or IAC, when you press the pedal these are the two that start to work. CPS would be the failsafe after these two are replaced.

 

I was thinking it was the IAC also and a few people have also suggested that also. But it seems it is only doing it while the engine is cold. I 2 petaled it to auto zone and got a new IAC, went out and the jeep fired up like the champ she is. So I have to let the engine cool down to see if it will give me problems again then change it. Hopefully that is what the problem is.

 

Before you put the new IAC in, I suggest cleaning the carbon and grime off the original IAC and the hole it fits into. Q-Tips and carb cleaner is what people are suggesting.

Also, how hard is it to 2-petal it? lol I havent gone to class all week cause im scared of getting stuck on campus. Just one foot on the gas, one on the brake, and shift to neutral when stopping? Sounds like I would stall so much lol

 

Yea I went to autozone got the IAC and new front and rear breaks. Got home and found I was out of carb cleaner.

And yes that is how you do it however, I just left left it in drive and gave it a little bit of gas. Just enough to keep the jeep running.

 

Mine did that to I thought it was the pump then the rest bought all new nothin. The battery was my problem it was bad

 

Well I let the jeep sit for about 3 hours to let it cool down. Went out to start it up to see if it would give me any problems and she fired right up. So I still don't know what the problem was.

 

Done a fuel pressure check yet?

 

No I put in a brand new pump in, in i wanna say September maybe August.

 

1. Marginal battery can absolutely create a stalling symptom

2. Having to "tip in" the throttle can indicate a throttle position sensor problem.

Load test your battery and test your throttle position sensor.

Cleaning of the throttle body and idle air control is NEVER a bad idea, as they get carboned up over time and miles.

 

Well I just wanted to update this I wasn't having the problem after I posted this thread. It just magically went away untill about 4 days ago. Luckily when it first happened I got a new IAC and held onto it. That is what the problem was and now shes all better.
