Default idle issue

Ok so when I start my jeep it revs normal then to the idle and then starts to bog and wants to die. So I just give it a lil gas to help it and then its fine. And its only happens when the motor is cold. Any help is appreciated

Many possibilities. How old are the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor? Have you ever cleaned your throttle body including the Idle Air Controller? That's your starting point.

X2 on this, and run some seafoam through the TB. Start with the cheap, easy stuff

Agreed. Those "little" things make all the difference.

Seafoam is a petroleum based engine cleaner that can be run through vacuum hoses, through the throttle body, poured in the fuel tank or crankcase. They sell it at most parts stores in either a spray or liquid. In my opinion, spraying it through the throttle body past the throttle plate gives the most immediate results.

You could have a bad TPS. The TPS has two sides if you have an auto trans. Most methods of adjusting the TPS use the trans side of it. If you're hunting an engine problem like you are, that doesn't work well.

PM me you email address and I'll send you some easy instructions to use that are accurate and include a few other tips for diagnosing your Renix.

what plugs did you use, cause i used autolight plugs when i changed mine and got really poor idle quality, then i went to Champion Copper plugs (under $2 a plug) and it was the best fuel economy and idle characteristics i have had since i owned my jeep.

also just a side note i ran my plugs gapped at .040 instead of the stock .035, just personal preferance

totally agree with the TPS I just replaced mine because it would only do that once in a while, all is well with it now
