I was just glad I finally got it. It was on day 4. If I didn't get it last night, I would have had to tow it somewhere. I was NOT looking forward to paying some shop labor rates for removing a stupid oil filter...

The wrench did that. It started crumpled, then another wrench made it worse, then hours later the screwdriver, then this wrench, after the "**** it" moment, ...never using this wrench again..

I use one of these. When an oil filter is tightened properly (by hand), this is all you should ever need.

Good that you got it off!!!!

Sometimes you have to pull out all the tools to get a filter off. Just did one on my VW and couldn't use any of the above, couldn't get the chain wrench in there either. Ended up using a really big pair of channel-locks and baby turns.

I've had good luck with the pliers that have the serrated jaws. I like the filters that either have the nut imbedded in the end or the roughed up rubbery stuff to get a good grip. Hand tightened is all they need but some people like to reef them on ridiculously tight.
