Default Oil Filter / Oil Filter Relationship

Ok so we did oil changes in both of our XJ's.

Put 5W30 in both.

Installed Purolator ONE oil filters in both.

Since only one has an Oil Pressure Gauge I can only comment on that one vehicle.

I noticed an increase in Oil Pressure after the change.

Prior to the change the vehicle had 5W20 in it and whatever oil filter a Toyota Dealership could put in. The previous owner worked at the dealership and had the oil changes done there. There was an " Oil Change Due ... " sticker inside the windshield from the Toyota dealer.

Can the oil filter make a difference of almost 20 PSI indicated????

FWIW: The previous filter was branded " NAPA ProSect " or it could have been a black MOPAR filter. I did both oil changes at same time and did not pay attention to which filter came off of which vehicle.

Yes the Oil and Oil Filter can effect the oil pressure. The Purolator pOne and a higher weight oil are going to increase the pressure. As long as your Temp stays normal you are fine.

POne's are one of the best filters and are known to increase the pressure because of there strong filtration.

That is what I suspected, the finer the filter the more it will restrict flow and pressure behind it will increase.
