It should be held by screws, remove the console and the boot should come out with it,if the **** is removed,or it is screwed to the floor,I have not taken them out of jeeps but most are just like that.

There is a plastic clip that goes under the rubber boot and snaps into the console. I do not know if it is available or not. Mine was cracked in three places and I had to super glue it back together.

My 91 XJ has the boot Bezel frame also, and I for the life of me can"t figure out how the heck to put it back on. I removed it to replace the carpet, and we can't remember how the plastic bezel goes back on....any help would be GREAT...

The plastic frame under the boot snaps in front and rear. Gently pry it out with a flat head working around it and it should pop off.
Edit: the high part should be the facing rear of vehicle.

WOW i think this was the first thread i ever made.. If your missing the plastic frame to hold it in you can use pennies... yes pennies. I glued a penny on each corner of the rubber boot, then glued it all down to it. I left a space small enough to get my screwdriver in on the bottom right and halfway up the right side so i can remove the console still.
