Default flat tow a 96 cherokee sport

I have a 96 jeep Cherokee sport 4wd I would like to know if it is ok to flat tow it with my class A motorhome. The jeep is completely stock. I read in other threads that you put the transfer case in neutral and auto trans in park, if you are going to leave the trans in park I dont mean to sound stupid but I guess that means you remove rear drive shaft? Owners manual says remove both drive shafts but it covers 84-96. Thank you very much in advance for any replies and advise.

I pulled a '96 (and before that a '99) behind my Southwind for several years. Assuming you have an auto trans:
Trans in PARK, Transfer case in NEUTRAL. Key OFF (unlocked). Don't set the parking brake.
No need to remove anything.

I doesn't hurt to shift to D momentarily to verify the transfer case is in N. (If the jeep moves...it isn't) then back to Park.

You need the trans in Park because the pump doesn't run with the engine off. Parts will be turning without lubrication unless it's in P. The transfer case oils itself when the wheels turn, so it'll be unharmed.

If your jeep looks like this, it's hooked up wrong

LOTS of XJ Cherokees were (and still are) flat towed behind motorhomes. Only the 2WD automatics needed the driveshaft pulled.
Radi has it spot on for the procedure.
Note that you will NOT be able to back up the motorhome while towing. After a couple feet the toad vehicle wheels will go full lock left or right so plan your gas stops carefully.
