96 jeep cherokee
just got my jeep back and I drove it around and turned it off and tried turning it back on and wouldn't even crank over radio works everything works fine I got out and tapped on the starter and it started right up. replaced starter and was driving it earlier to work and when I got off went to go start it and did same thing, could it be a faulty starter or what else? kinda stumped

I have got a few bad ones over the years, expensive ones too. Usually its not the starter, its the solenoid. My last Bosch for the jeep had the solenoid go out a week later, just changed the solenoid. Get your book out, can be tested with a volt meter.

Man, I'd move on. Those hood clearances are off and the tranny has already been out? Plus that sweet interior is jacked up. All those wires for fogs and such were probably destroyed with the column. Electrical problems are the last thing you want to take on with a Cherokee. I'd give maybe 2k for this thing. The lot has more than that in it.
Good luck finding one. I think you'll find a great one out there. Especially with a 5k budget.
