all the wiring to the lights is fine.

could the problem be within the light switch itself(which is new)?
if you checked all wiring and sockets ,if switch is new and issues started after installing it id get a nother

I didn't find anything out of wack, I pulled the switch and found inordinary wire burns but once I plugged everything back in I haven't had a problem yet. Besides a non working radio but that's probably ignition switch related since that wire is shortened.

yessir. sorry not for clarifying.

after looking thought the haynes manual and the schematics. i could only find that being the the last possible culprit.

Unfortunately, our Renix Jeeps were designed and built with undersized wiring and grounds. The headlight switch took the brunt of the wiring deficiency and alot of heat was created in it due to small wires being run all the way through it from the lights themselves. That's exactly why I advocate using an upgraded headlamp harness. It takes the amp load off the switch and as an added bonus your headlamps are about 30% brighter than stock. www.eautoworks.com. Get the one for teh H-4 lamps. If you need installation instructions, let me know. It's super easy BTW.

I had bought HID's a month ago but since I'm still looking for a carrier of a multifunction switch before I put them on but mods have huge downsides so I may go the new harness route.

But BTW cruiser, you're pretty damn helpful on this site. I appreciate it.

A good way to prevent headlamp and multi-function switch failure is to do the headlamp harness upgrade. It's not much more money than each of the parts that can melt down from too much heat. Takes half hour to install. The other benefit is greatly improved lighting.

Also. Another issue now. Radio is tied in with the Dome fuse... fuse keeps blowing on ignition but if replaced while running, it'll last till the next startup.
Shouldn't the radio be tied to the radio fuse?

Default radio with dome fuse reference

using this thread for reference.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/89-...se-box-105478/
one had a 25a in radio fuse and a 30a in the dome fuse spot. also had no reported problems.

should i look into the ignition switch again?

i always welcome ideas being thrown at me.

also looking at the diagram on pg1. my radio and dome shouldnt be tied together because its a 90, not a 93...
or should i go back to audio express(company who put it in a year ago) and ask wtf the did when installing?

Cruiser’s Headlight Upgrade Harness Instructions

Absolutely plug and play. Remove grille and headlamp bulbs. I fed my harnesses from the passenger side starting between the battery and the back of the headlamp housing, over to the driver side. Plug the driver side bulb into the new harness. Attach the new harness's ground wire under one of the small bolts on the radiator support after scraping the paint off under it. Attach the harness to the existing harness behind the grille working toward the passenger side. . Plug the new harness plug into passenger headlamp. Plug original headlamp plug into receptacle on new harness. Attach the ground for the passenger side just like you did the driver side under a radiator support bolt. Attach relays with provided bracket on the passenger side inner fender. Connect power wires to battery.
