Electrical Gremlins in the Door
Hi all,
1998 XJ. Whenever i open the drivers door all the accessories die. I mean the gauges, radio, etc. They come right back on once i close the door but this is super annoying as i have to reset the radio every time. I replaced the door switch but that did nothing.
Any thoughts?

Something that is affected by the wires running from the body to the door. The ones in the bellows?
That's about all that could be moving to cause an issue like that with the door opening. Just a thought.

So... what normally happens when you open any door? The interior lights come on. Seems like a place to look.
- do in fact, your interior lights come on?
Thinking maybe a short in light circuit or possibly funky headlight switch (the dash dimmer)
